Brand Identity
Brand identity of the Bartholomaedesign agency.
With any branding, special attention is paid to finding a logo. It should be striking and memorable. A high recognition value contributes significantly to the success of a brand. Image logos, but also type logos, always convey content. This applies in particular to the reduced representation of an animal that represents the brand or service provider.
Bartholomaedesign opted for the owl for the image logo. Its image with just one line reveals the agency's graphic potential.
In many cultures, the owl itself stands for wisdom, clarity and intuition. Its extraordinary ability to see in the dark is certainly one reason for the knowledge attributed to it. With keen senses, it discovers things that remain hidden from others. This has led to a mysterious aura that has given rise to many myths about this forest dweller. From a purely biological point of view, it is considered a sovereign hunter of the night. Good hearing, light-sensitive sharp eyes, a very agile neck that allows it to look in many directions, a silent flight made possible by special feathers and sharp claws guarantee successful foraging.
The Bartholomaedesign typeface logo consists of the family name and the word ‘design’. Although it consists of seventeen letters, it is easy to read thanks to the family name, which is known in many European countries at least in its form or similarity, and the familiar term ‘Design’.
The font used, whose strokes match the owl, has been modified on the letter ‘t’. This adjustment makes for a more compact typeface, improves legibility and gives the typeface a greater sense of flow and direction.
Another important aspect in the application and appearance of a brand is, of course, the color or colors assigned to it. These also work on a psychological level and evoke associations in us. The deep, bright blue that the agency chose is reminiscent of a blue sky that we encounter in high, snow-covered mountains on a sunny day. As a light-backlit RGB color, the blue tone appears effectively in digital. For printing, it was necessary to develop a blue that mirrors the intensity of the web impression. It appears as the color used in the image and type logo and serves as the background color, as in the web design, business cards, stationery and packaging design.



Owls have keen senses and special abilities. Their image, consisting of just one stroke, is the agency's logo. The word mark is kept in a matching grotesque font, only the letter ‘t’ has been slightly modified.
Bartholomaedesign works multidisciplinary. The showreel features visual communication in digital and physical spaces. The projects include brand identity, web design, print, exhibition design and installations.





In addition to the image and type logo, an intense blue characterizes the agency's appearance.



The book “Bartholomaedesign Archiv” has a linen cover and foil embossing. On 224 pages, the agency's projects are presented with pictures and descriptions.





Bartholomaedesign realizes visual communication with creative diversity and artistic expression. This is particularly evident in graphic and scenographic works.
